Welcome to Maya Moon

 Maya Moon Counseling is a holistic, psychological, and mental health practice focused in the psychotherapeutic treatment of trauma and other clinical disorders. The psychotherapeutic approach uses somatic awareness, embodiment, EMDR, Mindfulness and Adult Attachment intervention. 

Embodiment approach is our speciality and caring about healing trauma is our most important mission. Most of ourself suffer from intense fear or trauma, however fear is seeing in treatment as an evolution to your consciousness. Treating this fear with mindfulness is honoring without judgment the beautiful emotion of fear, witnessing how our heart and body response to our resistances provides space for learning, love, wisdom and alleviation.

Yoga Based Trauma Informed Care Psychotherapy approach:

For your journey, mindfulness based trauma treatment techniques are part of your sessions. Many of those techniques supported by the American Psychological Association (APA) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services America (SAMHSA) and the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy (USABP) . 

The mindfulness base treatment is a Trauma Informed Care (TIC) that follows the national health care guidelines. TIC is only designated by a therapist who counts with certifications and studies from different Trauma Centers with high standards.

 Maya Moon counts with different organizations supporting our TIC nomination, including Trauma Institute and the National Child and Trauma Center. 

B- The Western approach supporting the Eastern techniques started with Gestalt Psychology, Somatic theories and research on

Body-Mind Psychology. Respectful leaders supporting the somatic approach started with Bessel Van der Kolk, Ph.D. Peter Levine, Dr. Steven Porges, Pat Ogden, etc.

Clients preserve open to meditation techniques, movement, stretch, and observance of body awareness as resources of somatic healing.

 In your intake appointment, we highly recommend you to speak with your counselor about your willingness to engage in trauma informed care resources, including mindfulness and somatic approach.

Based research studies by the APA supports the connection between the mind and the body (Monitor on Psychology, issue April 2013, by American Psychological Association. Our approach is supported by the American Psychological Association (APA), Harvard School Research, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, and the American Psychiatry Association.

HIPPA requirements are always followed in our practice in case of coordination with your primary care physician.

Maya Moon follows the Ethical guidelines from the National Board of Certified Counselors and the American Psychological Association.
